Investing in penny stocks is highly speculative but can be a very lucrative.  For example, Company A has a stock that starts at $0.01 and goes to $0.10 while Company B has a stock that starts at $10 and goes to $100.  While the percentage gain is the same, it is much more likely to find a stock like Company A than Company B.
